──然而，却如此地充满杂乱、残酷与悲伤。

这就是异形都市インガノック。在这样一个由积层型巨大构造体铸造的完全环境都市（arcology）中，十年前发生的《复活》将全部都改变了。人类、树木、以及因为机关（engine）排除的废气而变成灰色的天空。本该独一无二的太阳，现在却变成了两个。
使人恐惧的衍生生物不断出没，就连之前给都市带来富裕的蒸蒸气机器文明，也发生了变异，不断地化为异形攻击人类。唯一得以幸免变异的，只有权贵们居住的都市上层。インガノック的一小部分。
据称超过100万人口的都市下层，如今正密密麻麻的充溢着本该不存在的异形和病毒，以及发达至异常的暴力般的机械技术。歪曲的天空中衍生出无限的迷雾，整个都市被完全孤立了。
孤立都市，同时也是异形都市的インガノック。
巡回医师ギー，时至今日依然奔波在都市中。
他无视着上层权贵们所制定的“死之都市法”，为了拯救弱者而来回奔波，不断医治救助着下层的人们。从昨天到今天，再到明天。
眼睁睁的看着无数生命从自己手中逝去。
为了寻找10年前所掩盖的真想究竟为何物，而不断奔波着。
——而后，他遇见了。
——两个人。
其中一个少女。仿佛对インガノック的混沌浑然不知的，黑衣的少女。
她的名字叫キーア。脸上总是充满着已经被众人遗忘了的“笑容”。
另外一个是影。失去了一切幻想的都市中唯一成为传说的，“童话”中登场的角色。也就是，可变化为万色的钢之人影。
其名为《奇械》。
非人的钢之影。
粉碎异形的刃之手。
给人们带来“美”的，インガノック唯一的希望——

Inganock, a city isolated from the outside, a city where everything is distorted, even the sun. It all started ten years ago, at a day called as 'Revival'. Then residents of the city slowly changed into beings that are partially human and partially animal.

To this day, only a few still look fully human on the outside. One of these is Guy, a former medical student, now an illegal doctor that walks the city and cures the poor for free. He changed too, but only in the inside and his change enabled him a mysterious ability that he uses to heal people that keep mutating further every day.

He has a few 'friends' if you can call them that. One of them is a black steel cat girl called Atty. Another one is an old friend from his medical school that he just met again after ten years, Salem. And the games story really begins when he encounters a little girl with pink eyes named Keea...

Gii is a traveling doctor who walks around the slums of the city, healing the sick. Because of “the revival”, his brain gained mutations which gave him skills in curing the most stubborn of human diseases, through mutated diseases are a whole other matter. His mutations has also forced him to lose his physical senses and much of his emotions. He also believes that it has robbed him of his sanity, as he keeps seeing a dancing clown at the edge of his vision. However, his life is (once again) changed forever, when he meets the girl named Kia.

Despite the efforts of the city’s best information brokers, no one seems to know about who she is and where she comes from, and she herself is very adept at dodging question. She is very mature for her seemingly young age, and can easily do housework and tell when people are lying.
