神沢学園の二年生。生徒会に所属している。
冗談みたいな名前だが、れっきとした本名。
美形でとにかくもてて、ストーカーに監禁されたこともある。
美形である事を自覚しており、かなりのナルシスト。
虚弱体質で、よく女生徒に揉みくちゃにされて死にかかっている。
だが、すぐに生き返る。中立的な意見を言えるため重宝されている。
また、双七と同学年であるため仲が良い。

先祖の妖怪は「ぬっぺふほふ」。
並外れて虚弱だが、死亡状態からも自動的に蘇生・回復する。
怪我を負うと相当痛いので、普段は精神への負担を避けるために蘇生・再生するまで一旦仮死状態になるが、
本人の意思により痛みを我慢し「死ぬ」のを耐える事も出来る。
不死身ではあるが不老不死ではないので老衰によって死ぬことができる。(逆に言えば老衰以外の死に方ではやがて蘇生する)

神沢学園2年生。2年女生徒の中では中心的な存在。
淫蕩な母親を見てきた為か男や性に関して嫌悪感を持っていて、
同性でありながら刀子に恋愛以上の信仰に近い想いを持っている。

彼女にとって一乃谷兄妹は理想の存在である。
先祖妖怪は影女で、
数秒のみだがどんなに狭い隙間にでも忍び込むことができる。

Tonya is Soushichi’s classmate and also a member of the student council. Being a Russian exchange student, she possesses silky silver hair and has a slightly more minute stature than the average. On the outside, an innocent(?) school girl but really she is a secret agent from Russia investigating in Jinyous of Japan/.
Tonya possesses a calm, witty, ****ytical side that compliments her job as a spy/ but also her snarky, playful and mischievous nature makes her a very rounded character. It’s probably not an exaggeration that most of her sharky side is in her fights with Suzu (i.e. always). But how she teases Soushichi and Keijirou=/c331Io about their romantic relation, her anger/jealous mode when someone tries to "advise" on her physique, in contrast to how she is always a reliable ally in combat and her kindness that is shown indirectly makes me think she is the best support any protagonist can get.

Second in command of the 17th Jinyou Pursuit Organization in Ayakashibito, and one of the protagonists of the sequel, Chrono Belt.
He is Soushichi’s teacher in both martial arts and life. He's the creator of the Kuki style. Kuki style originates from the basis of a Chinese martial arts style called Enkaken. The original style is created as an anti-youkai style (humans using it to stand a chance against the youkais), while Kuki Ryuu modifies it to be more suited for use against Jinyous. The style emphasizes on circular strikes and counterattacks (parrying and then retaliating). Thus despite being human, he is able to slay youkai and jinyou with these specialized palm fighting techniques. He later fuels on Youkai and was going to be the biggest threat Ayakashibito’s world have seen./

Tonya's brother (they are not blood-related)/. A Russian Jinyou, he has journeyed all around the world. Albeit he's Russian, he speaks with an odd American accent due to his admiration of American culture. He's also an otaku; his hobbies are Games, Manga, Anime, Internet surfing. Albeit Tonya vehemently denies it, recently he started "brainwashing" her with these hobbies.

His power is to manipulate soil, earth, and consequently also asphalt and other matters.

The monk who has gone the path of asura (destruction). He is a member of the Dominion 17th team and has a straight, honest personality as long as he gets his fight.
His youkai ancestry stems from a youkai species called Gashadokuro (giant skeletons, the spirits of the unburied dead). His power is to realize the swordsmen he defeated in the past and thus controlling many sword at once…up to 30.

Ichibee’s little brother. Like Ichibee, he is a total warmonger. Though in his case, he is obsessed with guns. While not to the extent of his brother, he does keep his words and stays cool even on his death/.
His power is to control up to 30 pistols…and fires them all at once. He originates from a youkai species named Nodeppou (a youkai said to be similar to a mixture of a tanuki, squirrel and giant flying squirrel, who wraps itself onto the face of a human who fires a gun.)

The protagonist of Ayakashibito. His former name before he escaped from the island facility is Takebe Ryouichi.
He's a Jinyou who cries when he is sad, and cries when he is really happy. He can make good decisions on the fly, and thus makes good use of his power: ability to communicate with metals/. Pretty mature in terms of attitude towards life, and values the importance of everyday life.

He is a Relative of a Human made Youkai a Tsukumogami./

Jinyou living in Kamizawa. He works as a teacher in Kamizawa Academy. His father is a politician, and due to that he he's on good terms with Yatakarasu and Karasutengu.
His ancestor was a stone-youkai called Sekiyou, thus he can harden parts of his body into stone. The hardened parts then can deflect bullets or break things such as iron doors. He takes pride in being the strongest not just in Kamizawa Academy, but in whole Kamizawa.
Master of the Yata Raiten style. It's a style originally used by the tengu youkais to defend themselves against the assaults of humans. Youkais, while strong individually, can be overwhelmed by humans in large numbers, especially if they're carrying weapons, so Yata-Raiten style is actually focusing on fighting One vs Many using lighting-fast strikes with one's fists. Throughout the game he starts mentoring Soushichi too so he can learn this fighting style./

He appears very very very briefly in Chrono Belt if one patches it to 1.1, as Fujieda Ayaka also interviews him in her omake section about what he thought of Kuki during their fight/. He is voiceless there though.

Touko’s older brother, the student council president of Kamizawa Academy. Like Touko, he possesses super strength, but his techniques are not as good as Touko so he uses two hand to wield "Bunichi". He is diligent but at the same time very shy especially with woman. He loves his sister (in a healthy way), and aspires to become an angler even though he isn’t very good at it.

His Jinyou origin is from an Ushi-oni ancestor, and thus he's sharing a body together with his sister ever since they were born. Depending on whose mind is taking control, their body changes accordingly (in Shuugen's case it's a man, in Touko's case it's a woman)./

A ******e in Ayakashibito. She may seem the yamato nadeshiko archetype, but is scary when angry. She has just slightly more jealousy than average women and is often caught in her own fantasies. Though do not be deceived by her looks, she possess inhuman strength due to her Youkai ability and can single handedly wield "Bunichi", an anti-spirit katana with abnormal length and sturdiness that is able to cut a car in two.

Her Jinyou origin is from an Ushi-oni ancestor, and thus she's sharing a body together with her brother ever since they were born. Depending on whose mind is taking control, their body changes accordingly (in Shuugen's case it's a man, in Touko's case it's a woman)./

The main ******e of Ayakashibito. A Kitsune youkai girl that follows Soushichi around ever since their escape. She hates every human with the exception of Soushichi. She claims she is Soushichi’s older sister due to her real age, but really doesn't act like one, she's more of a stubborn girl.
Has amazing powers called Soul of Language, whereas she can command other people around who feel compelled in following her orders/. Feels that Soushichi is always too kind and a little too naive.

The commanding officer of the Dominion 17th team. She is strict, on both others and herself, and puts up a strong front. But inside, she is still the oneesan of Soushichi back at the island. Her pistol, Harpuria, is customized for her and requires her Youkai ability to form compressed-air bullets. As such, she is able to control the speed, power and size of her shots.

Jinyou living in Kamizawa, and vice-chairman of its academy's student council. His height is really short, which resulted in him having Napoleon complex (alias "short man syndrome"), but basically he's a lad brimming with vitality. Childhood friends with the Ichinotani siblings and the student council accountant, Nanami Io.
His youkai ancestor is a giant species called Daidarabotchi (a giant youkai touted to have created many geographical features in Japan), which grants him powers whereas he can't feel the weight of anything he grasps. His parents are managing a small, cheap, but delicious soba shop, where he often has to help out by doing deliveries and such.

Jinyou belonging to the 17th Jinyou Pursuit Organization, but he seems to have things to hide too. Contrarily to his appearance he's a remarkable driver.
His ancestor is a youkai called Shirouneri (a youkai species known as an old, rotten dishcloth appearing in the form of a dragon). He can spit a stinking liquid from his mouth, which smells like the aforementioned rotten dishcloth. When vaporized it becomes a non-lethal but poisonous gas.
He has a firm believe in Iizuka Kaoru.

Despite that his full name is never revealed throughout the story (his family name is Satou), he's a key character throughout the beginning of the game. He works as an illegal doctor accepting everyone who comes to him for help. His daughter was killed by a jinyou and his wife committed ******* soon after, thus he despises them passionately. As soon as he found out that Takebe Ryouichi is also a jinyou all of his kindness (or more like naiveness) has vanished without a trace. Later on he entrusts him with money, and explains them about Kamizawa. In the end Suzu using her own powers erased the memories that they ever met.

A pure youkai. Yatakarasu literally means an eight-handed crow, and is a god in the Shinto mythology.
In the game he's a huge three legged crow disguised as a man. He's an envoy sent to Japan by Amaterasu. Even though he's extremely childish and spoiled, he's over 2000 years old. Inheriting Shizu's roles and accompanied by Karasutengu, he shoulders the responsibility of commanding the youkais. He's on good terms with the politicians, and he's feasible to work as one. He's in a fierce battle with Ten who killed Shizu, but their fight isn't concluded due to the latter's injury. Similarly how Ten lost most of his power, Yatakarasu too lost his magical powers: when he takes human form, he's limited to the body of a child/.
Has a rivalry with Kisaragi Soushichi over Suzu.

A pure youkai. He's Yatakaru's longest-serving personnel. Consequently his abilities are guaranteed up to for this task; he works as a butler for him. Karasutengu's character is calm, he reproves Yatakarasu often. He was also the one who taught the Yata Raiten style to Katou Kotarou.

A jinyou living in Kamizawa city, and a student council member of its academy. Kisaragi Soushichi's underclassman. She has a gentle and friendly character, but the plumpness of her own body results in a complex about it, and for this reason she tries to avoid frequently interacting with the opposite sex.
Her youkai ancestor was a Tennin (incredibly beautiful, ethereal, celestial women, they are almost always depicted as wearing white, flawless kimono, with scarves wrapped loosely about their bodies), thus she inherited an ability to release a fragrance at will through her mouth, which could put people's heart at peace when inhaled.
Probably due to how she's not very good at dealing with guys in real life, her hobbies are anime, manga and games centering on boy's love. She gets a bit attracted to the new student council member, Kisaragi Soushichi though...

A jinyou living in Kamizawa city, and the student council accountant of the academy there. Very temperamental but intelligent. An ideal type to be a committee chairman. Her father is the director of the local hospital, and her mother works there as a doctor. Nanami too aspires to become a doctor (or maybe a Soba shop owner's wife).
She originates from a youkai called Shichinin-Misaki, and thus she's able to think in multiple parallel ways at the same time using her ability (she stops at three though given that she gets anemic upon trying more).
Childhood friends with Uesugi Keijirou, they both seem to be aware that the other might feel more, but they are in a state where neither steps in to change this.

A jinyou living in Kamizawa, and a student council member of the academy there. She only recently arrived into Kamizawa and started living together with her grandmother who owns the local public bathhouse. Due to Anegawa Sakura's continuous nosiness they became best friends before Miya realized it.
Originating from a youkai ancestor called Kawaakago (an infant monster that lurks near rivers and drowns people), she got an ability which makes it possible to use specific objects as relay points. For example she can connect to other cellphones by using a destroyed cellphone as the relay point.
A timid, shy person, who during emergency can change into a splendidly courageous individual. Normally she's so diffident that she has trouble speaking with others, so she often resorts to "speak" via her stuffed toy, as by using it as her mouthpiece she can talk more or less fluently.
She has taken a liking of Uesugi Keijirou, but it's rather difficult for her to "break the ice".

A jinyou working in the 17th Jinyou Pursuit Organization under Iizuka Kaoru's command. Her primary role in the unit is backup and in charge of the communications.
Her ancestor is a Yuki-onna (traditionally, a tall, beautiful woman with long black hair, red lips, and inhumanly pale or even transparent skin making her blend into the snowy landscape, who floats across the snow, leaving no footprints, and said to be able transforming into a cloud of mist or snow if threatened). Due to this heritage she can emit blizzards from her hands, and can freeze her targets in about 10 seconds.
Her character is pretty coldhearted, but upon seeing overwhelming might in front of her, she can lose her courage. She's always thinking of atoning for her sister Hidaka Ichina, which at times can border fanaticism even/.
When she was a child her father often used her as a target of abuse, which resulted that she's pretty weak against older, father-like types now. Consequently, -and for another underlying reason too-, she promptly surrenders after Katou Kotarou's swift attack./

If her older sister, Hidaka Reina wouldn't back her up, the damage she can cause would likely expand to dangerous levels.
When she was a child, her abusive father's mistreatment has resulted in her having a cruel heartless personality. Before she joined the Dominion she made herself a name as a famous serial killer committing bizarre horrific murders./
Her youkai ancestor is a youkai species kalled Kasha (traditionally, messengers of Hell, fiery monsters known for causing typhoons at funerals to bear the bodies of sinners back to the underworld), and thus she can create devastating firestorms using her powers she inherited.

The exclusive ******e of Ayakashibito -Genyou Ibunroku- (the PS2 and PSP editions), she never "physically" appears in the PC editions, but is present in a different way there and has a significant role in Touko's route. Her route in Genyou Ibonroku editions can be accessed via that route too.
One of the evil nine-tailed Kitsune's, Genkou's tails. Albeit she was sealed in the Ichinotani Shrine for a very long time, the envy and conflict of the Ichinotani relatives made the seal loose and with the help of Ten, she accomplished escape./
Her personality is arrogant, obstinate, and is someone prone of succumbing to loneliness. Seeking a powerful body, she possessed Kisaragi Soushichi, but gradually started to be attracted to him./

She's the main character of Ayakashiban (the "Ayaka-san to Shuugen-kun & Temptation of Fragrance" release), and - as her portrait shows - she has a comedic omake section if you patch Chrono Belt to version 1.1, whereas she interviews various members of the game's cast regarding "the reason behind Kuki Youkou's strength".
A Jinyou living in Kamizawa, and the president of the newspaper club in the academy there (...as a matter of fact she's its only member). She believes in ordinary journalism, so she changed the campus newspaper to focus on cheap entertainment instead.
Her ancestor is a Fuguruma-Youbi.
