Marie is trapped in a horrible situation. She's being constantly tormented by her classmates and regularly molested by her teacher. With nowhere else to turn, she finds herself asking for supernatural help from one of the seven demons of the seven mysteries of her school. All she desires is the death of her cruel classmates and teacher. How far will Marie be willing to go in order to achieve the murders that would free her from her living hell?

School Youkai of the 3rd rank, "The Dancing Higanbana". It is said that in the middle of the night a doll dances atop the cabinets of the infirmary. Cursing and injuring others, she is the infirmary's master. She is feared even by other youkai for her brutality. Higanbana spends her days in the infirmary usually eating steamed buns while watching anime late into the night.
However, Marie sees through her demonic persona and the two get along. Higanbana often butts heads with Sumire over prey, so they're rivals in hunting.

A kind-natured and timid girl that is a victim of bullying. Eventually, her teacher, Kanamori Yoshihito, starts to molest her. She is a member of the animal raising committee.
Kanamori becomes paranoid about Marie eventually revealing their "relationship", and strangles her to death when she tried to confront him (Marie planned on reporting him to the authorities, using the video recordings Kanamori made as evidence against him). He was also competing alongside Marie in the hopes of becoming Mesomeso-san, but was killed because he broke the rules of the "game" (speaking to Meso-Meso).
Marie is now the School Youkai of the 8th rank. School Monster, Mesomeso-san. A youkai rumoured to live in the former school building's bathroom. Even if one hears it talking through the door, the must not reply. Unimpeded in her youkai form, she became stronger than she was in life.
Instead of going on the occasional hunt, she sometimes sneaks into the cafeteria. She also possesses a mysterious ability to find tea cakes from seemingly thin air.

Marie's homeroom teacher. He is a lively and popular teacher among the girls... but he keeps a wild animal inside of himself, and Marie becomes its outlet. Initially, he was ambitious and idealistic, but Kanamori attributes his changes to cracking under various pressures as well as being disillusioned.

Her tacky attire can almost be counted as one of the Seven Mysteries. Her favourite saying is "there are no encounters and there are no good men." She even grumbles this to the students.
She has a light supernatural sense, and on occasion it seems she can even sense Higanbana's presence. Taking care of Higanbana's doll, she is her guardian. Immune like a spiritual ward, she is completely safe even in the middle of Higanbana's aura.

A falsely-accused boy obsessed with uncovering truth with photographs. He loves pictures of wild birds, and his dream is to one day be a freelance wild bird photographer.
He stalked Numata Youko out of revenge and continuously harrassed her by taking secret photographs and sending them to her. His ability to take photographs of others without them noticing is genius tier. His true calling might be as a paparazzi or as a private eye who takes photos of extramarital affairs.

He is the School Youkai of the 1st rank, "The Headmaster". It is said that he slips out of a photo of a principal from ages past in the principal's office and wanders around the campus grounds.
It is also said that he spirits away students that he meets and erases any trace of their existence from reality itself. He shows a calm disposition but he hides a terrifying brutality. Now he's older, but once he was a youkai who could devour entire schools.
It seems he has a terrifying wife as well, so he spends his time at school to avoid going home.

Midori is a popular and wealthy student, loved by everyone in her class. Her peers' adoration of her extends to even everyone in her grade, and possibly the entire school. She is also a prominent member of the school's drama club, and is expected to earn the role of the main character for the club's latest production.
In reality, Midori is still unpopular as she was before, but thanks to her contract with the Black Tea Gentleman, she is blissfully deluded. She once had a lot of respect and boasted the wealth of her household. But now, she is being neglected in class and being treated exactly the opposite. In reality and on the stage, she's the vain girl who wants to be a princess.
With the Black Tea Gentleman's power, today she is performing as a princess on a stage that exists only for her to see. Incidentally, she does have a lot of acting ability. If she can put up with her current misfortunes, she'll surely blossom.

He's not ranked among the Eight School Youkai, but it is whispered that he is the shadow second rank in power. As the right hand man of the Headmaster, he is a powerful youkai also known as the "Vice Principal". As his name implies, he is rarely seen without some tea.
He holds the power to amplify the dreams of children and let them escape reality. This is what he did to Midori, as part of her wish to be loved and have the main role in the school play. He offers his powers to people in exchange for a portion of their souls.
He can be seen as either overflowing with kindness or with cruelty. He is the natural enemy of youkai like Higanbana, who hunt by inviting their victims to die. His hobby is to read children's writings about their "Dreams of the Future".

A girl with a self-proclaimed sixth sense. She really does have the gift to sense the supernatural. she is revered by a club of occult girls who believe in exorcisms and the power of charms. Although her eye healed a long time ago, she doesn't take off her eye patch. It's her evil eye. She often dresses up in goth-loli outfits due to her parents' hobbies. Her favourite brand name is Auntie Rosa.
Michiru is the one responsible for the curses during the events of "Shrine of the Guardian Deity". She recommended a group of girls to apologise to the guardian deity after they inadvertently broke its shrine, warning them that they could get cursed if they don't do so. However, as they didn't believe in the supernatural, they just laughed at Michiru.
Already feeling alienated, Michiru dropped a chair on one of the girls as part of the "guardian deity curse" she concocted to make the girls believe and apologise to the deity. Marie eventually talks Michiru out of continuing to "curse" the girls.
Her spiritual powers rapidly accelerated after her meeting with Mesomeso-san.

A highly intelligent, brilliant youth who gets the best grades. His jealous classmates frequently bully him.
He looks down upon his inept classmates. He started attending cram school from an early age and earns the best grades. He began to look down upon his peers more and more as time went on. Eventually, he ended up picking on one of his classmates for being "an underachiever". He was bullied because of that, and so he channelled his anger through attacking rabbits. He's slightly mental. He hides a twisted split personality within the darkness of his own mind.
One day, an unranked youkai named Hameln reveals that he has been watching Hikaru abuse the rabbits. Seeing Hikaru as an opportunity, Hameln uses Hikaru in order to achieve his goal of becoming a ranked youkai. Hameln's castanets (when played in the music room) has the power to turn those who hear its tune into small animals. Feigning cooperation, Hameln turned Hikaru's "tormentors" into rabbits, and then Hikaru would slaughter them.

He calls himself "Hameln of the Music Room". He doesn't rank among the eight school youkai. It's said that if one heas the sound of his castanets, they will be transformed into an animal. Since he has a moody disposition, he is well suited as a youkai. He's a frightful man when he takes off his mask. Thankfully, he loves masks.
In reality, Hameln was an ambitious, hugely egotistical opportunist. While he liked the pipe, he couldn't monologue while blowing on, so he changed instruments. Moody and whimsical, he clearly gave Hikaru about the same treatment as a lamp.
One day, he reveals that he has been watching Hikaru abuse the rabbits. Seeing Hikaru as an opportunity, Hameln used Hikaru in order to achieve his goal of becoming a ranked youkai. Feigning cooperation, Hameln used his powers to turn Hikaru's "tormentors" into rabbits, and then Hikaru would slaughter them.
He fights Higanbana, and turns her into a rabbit. Hameln "ate" Higanbana, but she killed him by eating his insides and jumped out of him.

A docile and timid girl, Reiko transfers into Yukari's class mid-semester. Due to her disposition, she quickly becomes the next target of the class bullies.
Oosumi Reiko is just one of many disguises Sumire of the Twilight adopts when she is hunting. Reiko/Sumire purposely made herself a target of the bullies for her hunt.

A pitiful girl made the target of bullying because of unfortunate circumstances at home. She tried to stay strong after her mother's death, but it was difficult for her at that age. She has a complex because she's taller than most boys, and cute clothes don't suit her.
When Reiko becomes the new target of the bullying, Yukari was at first, both glad and guilty. She never took part in the bullying, despite Reiko's suggestion that it would Yukari "fit in better". Feeling more confident since she became friends with Reiko, Yukari suggests that they join forces and stand up to the bullies together.
However, Marie appears and reveals Reiko's true form - Sumire of the Twilight. Sumire leaves Yukari's class, which caused Yukari to get bullied again. However, the bullying escalated much further and faster than before. Shortly afterwards on a whim, Higanbana thwarts Sumire's plans by causing a bus crash which killed all of the bullies.
These days, she still hates bullying, and when boys go beyond playful pranks, she often snaps at them. Perhaps believing that kind of personality is cool, her popularity is rising among the girls.
She bears a small resemblance to Furude Rika from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Bernkastel from Umineko no Naku Koro ni. However, she isn't related to any of them beyond the resemblance.
